I spent my teens writing the music column for the local Sunday paper while also working in record shops, music venues and playing in bands. I started working at the BBC in late 2006 - initially on a work experience placement at The Culture Show, which turned into a permanent position as the music producer for the arts magazine show. It was a bit of a dream first job in tv - I booked bands for live studio performances as well as producing interviews and Culture Show Specials with artists such as Paul McCartney, PJ Harvey, Kanye West, Alfred Brendel, Metallica, Lady Gaga and many more. I then moved on to the directing team on the Culture Show making over 40 short films about all kinds of things - from the long durational art of Marina Abramovic to the music of David Lynch. My first hour long documentary was a Culture Show Special with Keith Richards to mark the publication of his autobiography. Since then I have travelled the world documenting music and culture.
